Written largely during and following the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a strong theme of hopefulness on the record, like on opening track “Thank God I Do,” a gentle, spare love song that revels in God’s omnipresence.
Released in two parts, the full record is a sprawling but cohesive statement from Daigle, both musically and spiritually, and hints at what she’s been up to in the intervening five years. Though Lauren Daigle is already one of the most popular contemporary Christian artists in the genre, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter reintroduces herself with this self-titled double album, her first full-length LP since the monumental success of her 2018 release Look Up Child.
